Question 19.5" wheels question

Both of my 01s have stock 16" wheels. One of our sponsors has 19.5" wheels. Will they fit my trucks? How big of a tire can I use, and how much fuel mileage will I gain? Thanks for any help.

the tallest 19.5 I have saw is 33 inched about an inch taller than a 235/85-16 and same as 255/85-16
think a good bit more expensive than both

Wouldn't a taller tire have a bigger circumference? I would think for every turn of the drive shaft or the axle that I would go farther than with the 16" wheels. Or am I thinking backwards?

They have a calculator on thier website to tell you the change in gearing as a result of the tires size difference. I looked into them a year ago. I dont recall the sizes, but if you were to get it from 3.73 to 3.55 you will probably gain some mileage. I know my dad had a 95 and 97 w/ 3.55s that did pretty good.

My 250 is a 3.73 and gets about 15 mpg, but my 350 is a 4.10 and gets about 12 since it carries some weight in the back with a cap.

by installing those larger wheels,

your going to drop your mpg, mess up your speedo, put more wear on your drive train

not worth it

just my .02 cents

Yea but you can fill those wheel wells as they advertise.

Bigger tires + more road resistance + gearing off + Engine working harder to turn all of this = lower mpg. This is from experience from many years ago

The only thing is with the 19.5 tires you are not increasing the tire width only the diameter therefore your road resistance is not going to increase.

They cant be much wider. I have a set of 70 series off my IH 4700 that dont look any wider than my pickup tires. It is definitely not the dramatic increase in width you get when you go to a taller light truck tire.

I think the biggest advantage to 19.5s is tread life and stability.
