Cooling this Monster 460!

After rebuilding my 460 to 525hp and 660 torque, I am wondering how to best cool it. Had a 4 row stock rad. in the 79 F-150 2wd before the rebuild and need some input to maybe an after market setup. Entered this same thread in Cooling and 73-79 truck with little or no help, somebody has had this problem and resourced I am sure. Looking for help!!!!!

I'd be suprised if a 4 row Super Cooler wouldn't cool it.

Have the Super Cooler on my 460, and it keeps everything nice and cool, though my gauge reads high (could be poor gauge). It has never boiled over.

If it heats at slower speeds you might try an electric fan to help when the engine is turningto slowly to move the air thru the radiator, but a clean 4 row should do all you need, and a good shroud around the original fan.

fan shroud is a must. how wide is the 4 core, it may be possiable that dimmetinally it is too small for the truck?? and what fan are you running now??

Try your 4 row first and see how it does. If it's not up to the task then check with a radiator shop about a custom core. I had a local shop here in my neck of the woods build me a custom 3 core with high flow tubes (3/4 vs 1/2 stock) that cooled better than my 4 core. And the price was cheaper than a new 4 core would have been and way cheaper than an aluminum cross flow.

My 4 row has some miles on it but clean and had to repair a few leaks. Had the Gold Card warranty from Modine, but they don't make that 4 row anymore since the company changed hands. Any other 4 row rads out there? Will look into the add on elec fan as a pusher.
