I'm moving to sandy eggo in a couple of months...Does anyone from CA know if I'm going to get a hard time with my stacks?? Also any other advice for driving in CA? Thanks!
i have no idea what the laws are but i'll get you back up to the top of the forum...try finding a user on here from california. The only problem i can see is running into problems because of all the emission rules...good luck on finding your answer!
shouldn't be any problems with stacks, per se; BUT they have smoke requirements with side of the road tailpipe checkers randomly throughout the areas. I can't see how they will check stacks, however.
I think you'll have to smog it on entry if you change plates (been a while and many different jurisdictions)
They people there drive really fast and wierd. Beware if someone is in the lane next to you with a turn signal flashing, you could get sideswiped. The flashing is considered fair warning of "I'm going to be IN your lane right NOW"
Thanks everyone! That's good to know...I've spend a lot of time out there and I hate driving on the highways! (especially the 5) So I guess cruising around on 140 smoke wouldn't be such a good idea then LOL
I didn't think there was smog checks on Diesels until like this year or something??? My year didn't come factory with cats...Anyone know?
I was out there in 2000 and bought a camaro z-28...never could get it to pass smog, what a PITA!!!!!!
I've got stacks, no problems. Live in northern CA though. There are so many damn people in southern california. Cops have better things to do. SpringerPop is right. No emissions in CA for diesels as of yet.
As for roadside testing. Lived in CA for 23 years, never seen or even heard of anything like that. HERESAY!
Just an FYI... A friend of mine got a letter from the DMV stating the someone filled a complaint against his vehicle because it was smoking too much... They gave him a written warning and said if someone els complained he'd have to get it fixed and go see a Ref. He wrote them back and stated that it was a 1988 ford 6.9l N/A diesel pulling a loaded car trailer up hwy 17 and if they had a way to make it not smoke he was open for ideas...
P.S Hey Lauren how ya been??? Good to here from ya!
