One of very few things I didn't order on my F-350. How hard and how costly is it to install this option in the field? Is it worth having? I've had it on a Ford Contour and now on my Taurus. Really like it in the snow on them. TIA
It can becomes useless in the snow. Besides dont you use 4wd in the snow? If you dont and you have tcs turned on lets say your coming up to a hill, tcs is on but you cant make it up the hill because you loose traction and the motor defuels and you lose momentum.
I've never had a dealer tell me that a particular option is a bad one.
My dealer is one of the biggest Ford dealers in the country, and the new car manager told me to take it off of my order because the system isn't a good one.
So I did..
When traction is bad, I trust my foot before I would trust a defueling sensor.
For women, it may be a different story....
Personaly i dont think the system is all that impressive. I have it on my truck and i think it has come on a few times in the rain, one of those time if i had'nt let off i go pedel, i would have spun out with the traction control feature so i dont think that much of them.
Geezuz...
I remember when my wife said she took my duallie through the McDonald's drive thru. Our local Micky-dees has this sharp, curbed 90 degree turn.
I thought for sure she would have scrubbed off my tires and scraped up my alloy wheels.
Lucky for me, she didn't.
I told her, Honey, PLEASE, don't try that again...
i think it a great system, back when there was snow on the ground i played with it a bit, the truck LAUNCHED straight faster than i could have ever done on my own it uses the brakes too it seems, without it though that big ol' truck can do some really tight donuts on the ice, all things considered though i was really impressed with it, even with it on if you gas it around the corner on a dry road those poor tires dont have a chance they'll chirp everytime. I love that big turbo diesel.
