Rust Converters?

Are rust converters legit? Do they actually work? I just started restoring my 60 f350 and I was wondering if something like eastwood's rust converter would work on the frame and underbody stuff. It seems a bit to good to be true to me haha

I've been using Mar-hyde rust converter and it seems to work quite well.

I used Extend on my rear fenders because they were so badly pitted with rust I thought I'd blow holes in them if I blasted them. It's been 8 years and I have seen any rust pop though where I treated them.

These products all do two things; bond with the existing ferrous oxide (rust), and provide a surface barrier that keeps the treated area oxygen-free. As long as there is no scale on the surface (wire brush prior to application) and you get good coverage that will keep the treated area from exposure to air, then any of the products will work just fine. Yes they are legit and they actually work...10 years ago it was rocket science or alchemy, today it is commonplace.

I painted my entire frame, front and rear suspension, and cab floor inside and out with POR-15. It's really great stuff...

My "body and paint man" that I use for insurance, uses the Mar-Hyde, and he's very happy with it! We just talked about it a couple days ago. He's tried them all, and sticks with the Mar-Hyde now...

I'm going to use "Chassis Saver", myself, when I finish sandblasting the frame.

For what it's worth.
