I am wanting to go with 255/85R16's on my F350 but I am wondering what it will look like. Anyone have pics? Brand doesnt matter for the time being....but for the curious BFG's or Trxus MT/sts are what I am thinking about.....
I've got some, don't have pics right now, the truck stays in Alabama while I am in Arkansas for a few months. I think I may go next week, will try to remember to take pics. I had to put some little 1/4 inch spacers in the back b/c they were rubbing, they were fine but I was scared they would pop under a load.
My'88 4WD has had that size since I bought it. It originally had load range E Dunlops, I switched to BFG, load range D. No rubbing or overload issues, even with a full load of firewood pulling a loaded trailer. Stock rims.
I have pics but can't figure out how to insert them in this post. I'll try Gallery.
I have an 85 f-250 6.9 with the c6 2 wheel drive, i have the stock sized 235/85/16 tires on the front, but MICHELIN xps rib, best tire ive ever ridden on, they ware like iron, only shed 3/32 since 7,000 miles ago, great tire, but on the rear, i put on 255/85/16 kelly mud and snows, ya its an 8 ply, but never had a problem with them, good knobby tire pushes me out of everything i get into, ill never go back to the stock size on the rear, but if you plan on putting them all the way around check for steering clearance in the front dont wanna rub in the excentric arm or sway bar if you have them. ill get some pics and post them when i get a chance.
Yeah, I am not too worried about fitment issues. I have done my homework on this and am fairly certain their will be about the same amount of rubbing I have now (like Dave noted they are about the same size, just narrower), which is none except at full lock.....not a big deal. If it is worse then I'll go from there.
I am more curious about what they look like with them on. All I can find is Toyota pickups and SUVs with them......yuck....
My goal is to retain ride height and reduce width.....thanks guys.
royzell, they look nice. How did it change your mileage switching to the mud terrains? What do you get for mileage?
