Gas Gauge

I have a 2000 Excursion with a V-10.
Anyone have thier gas gauge go out?
It reads FULL all the time. (wishfull thinking)

I had the exact same thing happen to me a few months back. In the end, what happened to my truck was that the zip ties that hold the wires in place inside the tank got old and broke and the float got tangled in the wires, reading full all the time (or at least thats what the shop told me). Unfortunately, that means dropping the tank to fix the problem. If I remember correctly, all the sensors and electrical stuff was fine, it was just physically stuck.

Before you start throwing money at it though, you could try driving on some really bumpy roads to try to jiggle it loose, but it wouldn't fix the problem, only postpone it happening again.

I had the same thing happen about a year ago with my 2000X. Mine also was that the float was tangled in the wires. Had to drop the tank and replace the ties. took aobut 30 seconds to fix, but half a day to get to it.
