Im on the lookout for a 5.8 (351w) efi motor for a project in my 71 Stang. What years (if any) are roller blocks? I know some of the last 302's were. Also any recomendations on an exact year would be good. I will just locate the whole vehicle, as I will need all the wiring too. I was thinking around a 95 would be good. Eventually this motor is going to see a pair of Garret turbos, so Im sure I need the truck motor for the better rods. Any info on this subject is greatly appreciated.
I don't know if any of the truck engines went to roller blocks in the 351. But I do know that 94 was the changeover for the roller blocks for the 302 in the trucks.
However, I have a 91 EFI 302 from a 91 model pickup in my truck right now. And have it on slim chances that it might be a roller block. Next time I take that lower intake off, I'll find out for sure. But I wouldn't think that Ford would've kept on prioducing the non-roller 5.0 blocks right along with the 5.0 roller blocks.
That just wouldn't make economical sense.
