After getting a lot of white smoke on start up I found two bad GP's or wires at one vcg plug. If it is not the GP's will I be able to replace the wires going from the vcg to the gp's and where can I get them? I would like to have them on hand when I open the cover so any help would be appreciated. And any pics of the connections would help.
Yes once you have the vc off you will see it unplug the gp,s and injectors then lift the tab you see there and pull it off.
how long has it been with bad gp,s you may not have to change the harness just the gp,s but if your in there you may want to check them especially the plug see how mine is missing part of the plug it melted rite off and I could not see it till I pulled the harness
Well I guess you will have to lift the cover and have a look see to determine what you need .
I know you said you want to have the parts at hand and the harnesses at ford are pricey but maybe check out tj,s part# list maybe someone else sells them
if you can wait check out eBay auctions I just bought a set of 8 plugs motor craft still in the packs for $60 bucks ford wanted $25 bucks a piece ? and I see on the occasion the harnesses on there
GREAT! I did check rock auto but could not find them. Thanks Like you said might as well switch them out if they are old. Don't know if you would think 115,000 is old but might as well do it at that price.
scatgo, Search rock auto by part number instead of by vehicle. The numbers a gave you above should work, if not remove the space between the numbers ie. 615201 instead of 615 201. BTW, the age of the harnesses is equally important IMO, 14 years old...they are likely ready to go south on you.
Sorry I did not make myself clear. I did search rock auto before you posted the part numbers and could not find the harness. With the part # I got it and ordered them.
Just got to it today.Turned out to be a bad wire going to a glow plug. Not sure why two came up bad when I tested through the VCG But after I took the cover off and tested just one wire was bad and all GP were great. Replaced both UVCWH. Word of caution on the Dorman parts the metal clips to hold the injector plugs in were useless had to dig through the garbage to get the old ones and use them.
