Edge Programmer???

Hey guys, I was just reading some testimonials off the Edge Products website, a couple of those guys on there are saying the Edge Juice w/ Attitude programmer is the best thing since sliced bread. And it's not goofing with the delete cycle, and the mpg increases are pretty significant. Anybody know of anyone running Edge products on the 6.4?

I run the Edge Juice with Attitude on my 08 F-250 6.4L. My mileage has increased between 2-4 MPGs so far. I have only put on about 500 miles since I installed it. It works great so far. It gives the needed lower RPM throttle response without having to downshift.

And are you running a DPF with this programmer or have you removed it ?

I still have the DPF and all the other factory emissions junk. Seems like it there have been less regens since installing the edge than before, maybe because with the edge on say level 3 you can keep the EGTs high enough to passively burn off some of that soot and still increase the MPGs.

Good feedback, I'm not looking for something to rip my back tires off, I just want a little better bottom end, and a little more tow power(and of course mpg's). That's a pretty good argument with the exhaust temps, to bad one of the tech's on the forum couldn't back that up. Keep us updated on your programmer if would. Thanks.

Just a side question. Does that set up allow for the changing of tunes while your driving?
I also noticed that they offer an evolution which include the monitor for a little less money. What is the advantage of getting the Juice over the Evolution?

It looks like the the Evolution has 4 settings, and the Attitude has 5, although the Evo has higher hp/tq gains and a specific tune for mpg, the attitude looks as though it may monitor more vital readings. Check out the differences at edgeproducts.com, I really couldn't tell which was the better of the two. The testimonials are good with both units. Both units have the monitors with the pod, and both allow on the fly adjustments. Evo is over two hundred dollars cheaper. Tell me what you think.

To answer your question, yes you can change the tune level while driving by just hitting the button up for more or down for less.

As for an update, I seem to get the best mileage with the Edge Juice on level 4 with the low end responsiveness set to lowest and driving normal but avoiding hard acceleration. I usually get around 14mpg in town now up from 10-11 before the Edge. I started a 100 mile highway trip the other day, truck goes into regen and to my suprise it only lasted about 10-15 minutes or about 10-15 miles. This is the shortest regen I have ever had. I set the Edge back down to level 1 at the start of the regen from level 4. After the regen, all is well and mpg on the lie-o-meter reached 17.2 mpg at 65 mph. I will hand calculate the total mpg for this last tank of fuel when I fill up in the next few days and will post the results. I have 35x12.5x18 tires with the speedometer calibrated by the Edge. The length of time in beween regens has increased to about 1 regen every 400-500 miles. Before the Edge the truck seemed to regen at least once every 300 miles or so. This chip is undetectable by factory scan tools too! I experienced this first hand during a unscheduled visit to the dealership for a belt noise the other day with the chip still installed. I took the mounting pod off the dash and put the attitude moniter on level 0 (stock) and put it in a gym sock behind the side dash panel (still hooked up). I hid the juice underhood module behind the air box, but any savy tech would have seen if they looked hard enough though. The dealer fixed the belt but forgot to hook back up one of the charge cooler tubes so when I picked it up it had no power and no boost and a check engine light. I went in and told the service writer that something was wrong and the tech came out and checked under the hood and found that he forgot to put the charge cooler tube back on. He put the tube on and then came out with a ford scan tool to check the computer and clear the engine light. I was about to admit to them that I had a chip installed until the only code that came up was for low boost. They cleared the code and sent me on my way. I sat in the parking lot and pulled out the attitude and remounted it on the dash and made sure the Edge still worked, it worked just fine just like it did before. This chip has worked well for me but if your looking for big horsepower gains the Edge Juice might not be for you since on level 5 it only adds like 80 hp. I want to keep my warranty for now so no DPF delete for me. Hope this helps, I will keep you all updated as I get some more miles on.

Im surprised they couldnt detect the tuner. From what I hear the 08's can detect EVERYTHING right down to a fart sensor built in to the seat. Is that all talk from Ford, or did this tech just not look deep enough since he knew the CEL was due to something he just did?

I read the PDF for the product and it actually stated that Ford would be able to detect it and suggest removal before service. Even after physical removal it stated that Ford would be able to see that it was there. Im still thinking its the best all around product for this truck that Ive seen so far.

Forgive my ignorance but why the four different settings? Seems you would just keep it on level 4 the whole time since it gives the best power increase. I am seriously considering the Evo but not for the power increase, for the mileage. Their site doesn't say anything about the mileage. But 2-4 MPG better would save me a ton of money over the year. So what does each setting do? Why not have it on 4 all the time?

With the Evolution you cannot change power levels on the fly like you can with the Juice. To change power levels on the Evolution you have to shut off the truck and turn just the key on and reflash the PCM with the desired power level.

Well the chip was still connected and working when the tech scanned the truck for codes and got nothing other than the code which he caused. Short of physically inspecting the stock wiring harness at the PCM and turbo for the Edge connections, I dont see how they would know the chip is hooked up if they don't see the Attitude moniter or the Juice box under the hood.

Any updates on the setup iridesand06? Mileage, drivability etc? This thing has peaked my interest.
