the techs cant tell anything from what I hear as long as your truck is turned back to stock. My truck was just hooked so I asked them, they told me that they could tell the PCM was accessed recently and other than that it looked normal. THey also said that most of what tehy see they dont really know what it means so if something goes wrong and they have to send in your sheets FoMoCo could most likely tell, what I don't know maybe just the number of times its been accessed ??
Be careful with the edge, it does increase power and economy but DOES NOT do anything to your tranny for the extra power
exactly what i thought but i didnt want to say anything because it seems likes their are a lot of edge fans here....
in my opinion if your not willing to take of the DPF then dont mod it... you wont get very noticeable gains unless you do a DPF delete pipe and tune... i like the Spartan or SCT delete tunes....

oh and i owe 1 trans to the edge juice and no a lot of other that do too
I would stay FAR away from EDGE stuff...first I would not even think of tuning one of these trucks with the DPF intact...next the Edge trans tuning is TERRIBLE!!
I've just installed my edge a couple of days ago. So far I'm pleased with it. I'm not going overboard yet with the modding yet( I may try the Spartan if the price comes down). The mileage gains from the edge is surprising. I've gone from 14-15 hwy to 18-19 hwy so far with normal driving.
Dont count on keeping those gains, theres no doubt that your truck is producing more smoke now, that smoke is soot buidling up in the DPF, this will first cause the truck to regen more often, and of course will lower your overall mpg, cause the regen uses a great deal of fuel, next this soot when its burned off turns into ash...the DPf is designed to hold a certain amount of ash over its lifetime, with stock tuning this is not a big deal, but with the extra soot that a tuner will produce this ash will build up fast and sooner than later...maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next month...but sooner than you might think, you will be replacing tht DPF...and they are about $2500
Not to mention that the Edge Evo leaves its mark all over your ECM so your warranty is good as gone lest you have a cool dealer.
Good luck...stay off that go pedal, or you will also be looking into tranny work soon as well.
I had an 06 that the dealer tried to fix multiple times. A ford Engineer happened to be in town doing some training and the tech asked him about my truck. The engineer came to the dealer, hooked up a laptop, and proceeded to pull more data from my truck than the dealer even knew existed. The dealer didnt pull any codes but the engineer did. He also knew how many warm up cycles had occured, how many times the PCM was accessed, etc. I was on the verge of buying a programmer for that truck and boy am I glad I didnt. That was an 06. No the dealer couldnt tell but you can bet the farm that the engineer could. The dealer even tried to look up the codes that were pulled and he couldnt cross reference them.
Think about this - they use Windows to program our trucks. My home PC uses windows and completely crashed. Took it to a PC shop and he was able to retrieve EVERY SINGLE FILE.
Im not a basher and dont mean to change the post. I am just sharing info. I want a tuner so bad I am drooling on my keyboard but my experiences have made me extremely cautious. When my warranty is expired there will be nothing held back but until then........

I don't have the edge evo. It may not make a difference performance wise but the edge with juice attitude so far seems to work ok. I've had them on the last few diesels I've had with no problems to date. It seems to work better on my 03 f250 best. I'll use it till it gives me problems on my 08. If I had done a little more research on the available tuners I would have thought about the spartan one. And in the end I may switch if the price comes back to earth.
Your last few diesels did not have DPF's on them....no particulate filters to clog up...think about it...or dont..whatever.
Your right on that fact. I've talked to Matt with Spartan on Friday and he explaned the pro's and cons of both ,and I'm going to switch to spartan once I save the money up for the complete package.
The Edge Evo RACE puts down about 480 rwhp in its highest setting. The power and shifting is very smooth. It is the best plug and play DPF delete option available and by far our top seller.

yeah but you buy the race evo if your planning on buying a new trans soon after.. thats what my service tech says at ford.. thats the problem with the race evo and the spartan.. if you run it on the highest level (225+hp) it can take just a few hard runs and your trans will start to cook..
and the race evo does not have a fuel mileage adjuster
thats why ive been told the juice is the best bet.. evo is so so.. just because of the risk of frying your tranny.. juice will last longer on the tranny..

Your service tech needs to do some research before he starts talking about things he knows nothing about. Typical of techs at dealerships though, clueless. The 5r110 that is behind the 6.4L is the most stout transmission I have seen. They will take 4x4 15psi boosted launches all day long with 550+ rwhp and not skip a beat. There are a ton of people doing this and beating on them daily on the street with zero issues. The Evo puts down power in the high 400's on kill so theres nothing to worry about trans wise.
The Evo Race on any setting (with DPF deleted) will get better mileage, no need for said adjuster.
The Edge J/A is a nice upgrade for those wanting a modest HP gain, nothing more. Mileage seems to be a little better with one, but not much.
Don't waste your money on anything but a Spartan, period. They have dpf delete setups as well as programing to run with the dpf. Why spend a pile of money on a programmer that will only gain you 80hp? My highest tune on my spartan is 275 and it is unbelievable, but you can go as low as 50hp if you want. At least you have a variety of options. As far as warantee, I don't quite understand why people say "after the warantee is up I'll mod. it". If something goes to hell you will have to pay to repair it either way, so why wait until the truck has a 100,000 on it to mod it? The way I see it, put 10 or 20,000 on it to make sure you don't have any problems, and then what the hell, enjoy the $50,000 toy a little. Don't wear it out and then decide to tune it. Just my opinion of course, but if you're thinking about a tuner, you HAVE to check into Spartan, it is an unbelievable product, with 2nd to none customer service.
