I need to know where the distributor vaccuum should come from on a 83 351. It is currently hooked up to a carb port that has no vaccuum at idle(above throttle plate?) This is an Edelbrock carb on an Edlebrock aluminum manifold. Is this the correct way to supply vaccuum to the distributor? This moter was modified before my getting it so I do not know if this is correct and none of my manuals show how to do this (odd). Thanks for any help I can get.

The way you have it connected is common for most Fords. You can experiment by hooking it to manifold vacuum, but it requires resetting the idle and idle mixture screws and may or may not work better for your application. Most of the time it will work better with the ported vacuum, especially with an auto trans.

On my Edel carb it has a ported and full vacuum, on the front the left one is the Ported and the one on the right is the full. That is the only two I have on my #1405 card. You could call the tech support line its on their web site.
