289 bellhousing

I plan on putting a 289 in my 69 and a 4 speed. This may be a stupid question, but will a bellhousing from a 302 bolt on to a 289? And if not, I know Mustangs had 289's and 4 speeds, will I have to find one of them? Thanks in advance!

289 bellhousing

A 289 and 302 share the same bellhousing. The only difference is if you use a bellhousing from a early 1965 289 bellhousing. They had a 5 bolt pattern instead of the common 6 bolt pattern.

I take it you have a 3sp trans now? You didn't mention.

You are correct, there is a 3 speed in it now. I don't really like it at all. Thanks for the reply, I thought they were the same but just wanted to confirm.
