cackle cure gone wrong

Hey everyone,

So I ordered up my Cackle Cure kit with HPX included.

I just finished installing the T-fitting on the fuel return line and I'm afraid that I cut the line a little too close to the upper bend. I didn't have much of the fuel line going into the T like I should have. I finished installing the T but I'm taking a short beer break before I go back out and finish the Mod.

I'm concerned that a fuel leak at the return line is likely. With that in mind what are my options guys?

If it leaks, I'm thinking about taking the top piece of the fuel return line down the the hose shop and having them bend me up a new piece. Sound like a good idea?

Cross your fingers for me and lets hope it doesn't leak. There is probably only an 1/8" sticking out past the vibra lock bushing.

With just an 1/8 of an inch you already know you're in trouble. Please post your results.

go to low's, home depot or a parts store..see if you can adapt an elbow on the T or see if they have a T with a 90 on it..if not use a rubber hose for now..double clamp both ends....

oops.... Yeah, you can get away with a piece of rubber fuel line (like what's done during the in-tank mods), but another nice custom bent piece would be ideal. I'm thinking you might be okay though. Let us know!!

I'm taking one final beer break before finishing up the driverside fuel line. I started at about 2:30 today. It'll probably be around 6:30 by the time I finish. So about four hours with a couple breaks in between.

I really can't stress enough how important the saying, "measure twice, cut once" really is. Haha.

Things happen though. I'll let you guys know what happens after I get cleaned up.

Just came inside after firing her up. Let it warm up, no leaks, drove it to the store for a beverage, no leaks. Put it in smoke mode after letting it warm up, no leaks. I'm one "lucky" happy camper.

I should have done the HPX today but I got over it. Another day. =)

It could just be in my head but the engine does sound a little quiter. Barely.

Congrats!! I kind of thought it might be okay from your description. You can do the HPX during your lunch hour at work -- it takes a few minutes. Just make sure you get everything tight enough. I didn't and I had to replace some O-rings that got ate up from 3000psi of oil shooting past them...

Where did you order your kit from? I am curious about doing this but am also nervous about cutting fuel lines. Any step by step with pictures on this mod? Sorry thread hijacked but congrats on the install and no leaks

I got mine here -

Dino Fuel Alternatives: <?php if($topsection != "") print $topsection . ", "; print $sectionname?>

Comes with lots of instructions. Very straight forward. The most time consuming part is loosening the alt, pwr steering etc, mounting plates to make room to work. It's a 2 hour job if you get after it.

Got my kit from Dino Fuel Alternatives. Parts are quality, also cheap if you wanted to piece together your own kit. They were nice enough to asssemble the lines for you prior to shipping.

I've just gotta say that after completing this mod, I wouldn't want to do it again. Although it mod itself was pretty easy, almost every accessory had to be disconnected from the engine at some point. Took me about four hours with a couple breaks in the middle.

As far as my $.02 goes on the install. Take your time, read the instructions, look over your engine. I purchased pipe cutter for $10 and it was a little to tight of a fit in the engine bay to really make a full circle around the line. That was probably the most sketchy part. When you figure out what line you're cutting, leave at least 3/4" of straight tubing past the downward bend. I removed 1-1/4" of fuel line.

If you've got the money, go regulated return.

Thanks for all the congrats!
