sythentic or multigrade

I have been using rotello 15/40 in my truck since the beginning. should I switch to synthetic 5/40 I have 171,000 mile on truck. I have never used synthetic oil before. Are there really benefits or is it just preference

there are benefits, but you dont have to switch

I run syn. during the winter for easier cold starts

If you like everything how it is, keep it that way. Plus, it will cost you double for every oil change. Rotella syn. is $16.94 a gallon around here

I ran synthetic after about 15,000 miles on a new motor. I run a blend every once and a while. The reason i run synthetic in mine is the extended change intervals, 10,000 miles. It saves a little with the miles i run, about 30,000 a year now. Moved farther out in the country 2 years ago.

I started using synthetics 3 or 4 years ago, year round, and never looked back. The truck started quicker and ran better with it. I tried Rotella and Mobil synthetic before settling on Schaeffers 9000 a couple of years ago.
