I just compared these with a set of non-adjustable rockers and noticed that the stands on these have round holes whereas the others have square holes (better oil flow?)
Check this out and tell me if you have ever seen anything like it on an FE Rocker Assembly ...
The only thing I can think of is...it's an aftermarket conversion Bill Stroppe, the Wood Brothers, or Holman & Moody did for Drag Racing/NASCAR in the 1950's early 60's.
The square holes go with the shoulder bolt on the oil feed from the head, there rest have no oil flow so round is fine.
All of the Rocker Stands on both Assemblies have the round hole, so oil supply must be very limited to the Rockers ...
I will probably just swap the Adjustable Rockers with the non-adjustables on my original shafts ... That way I will know there is sufficient oil going to the Rockers ...

I can't help but wonder why only one Rocker Assembly has that Tube ... They both came from the same 428 ...
I am going to use my old Rocker Shafts, Stands, etc. with the Adjustable Rockers ... They are in A1 condition ...
Now see those are the stands I remember seeing before. I emailed someone who should know. I'll post what he says when I hear back. I don't think they are an aftermarket thing either but more of a early FE thing.
As far as why only one rocker assy has the tube well it's prolly a mis match set.
I just heard back from Dave Shoe from FE.com. Off hand he didn't know of any stock factory FE stands with the oil tubes. But he did say he remembered a kit sold by JC Whitney and others circa 60-62. This was some sort of rocker shaft oil feed conversion kit that fed pressurized oil to the rocker stands from the oil pressure sender port he believed. And it was a somewhat short lived fad at the time. Maybe Bill might remember these? He also said the 58-61 aluminum rocker stands had the round bolt holes. And that they often clogged and restricted oil to the assys. So the later aluminum rocker pedestal stands got the squared off bolt holes to correct the problem. So Bill is on right the right path on the aftermarket conversion. I hope this helps shed some light on the subject. And kudos's to Dave Shoe for his input!!! I still can't remember where I've seen those dang ol tubes before. But if and when I come across it I'll report back. Could have been ebay for all I know. So hopefully the conversion info jives somewhat as a start.
Confusing ???? ... This Tube is actually sending oil back into the Valley ... There would be no physical way to hook it up to oil pressure from inside the valve cover, seems to me ...
Well I agree looking at the pics. Some sort of drainback assistance. No markings or numbers of any kind on them?? If there is no Ford casting number per say they are a aftermarket piece like Bill mentioned. Something for the "strange but true" FE parts drawer. Or maybe you can set them up on the ends of each rocker assy to direct oil back towards the head drain holes. Might be useful.
