I would have a hard time giving up my truck right now, it is just a personal thing and I have to compensate for our high gas prices in different ways to keep my guzzler. I bike to work when weather permits and the wifey drives a TDI Jetta that gets roughly 60 mpg's on the highway. AND to compensate for the higher diesel prices my work is going to get a bio-diesel mini plant to recycle the used cooking oil that the college produces (which is a lot), and sell it to a company that in turn sells it to us consumers....it has been offered to us employees as well which I'm sure will be an extremely good bargain compared to the pump. The operations are just going to be looking at cost recovery instead of profit....go figure the Alberta government is OK with this.

Anyways.....that's my bit on this thread that took a hard left.

I'm surprised you are not extremely pissed at the wife? Considering she park illegally and led to this unfortunate turn of events.

xtrford, you like most others these days ARE finding was to combat high fuel prices and I think that it is great.

BTW, this is FTE and hijacking threads is the norm!

As far as the OP, I know it sucks driving a damaged truck that was not your doing, but keep your cool and your truck will look as good as new!

On topic here.

In the 80's, during wee early morning hours, a drunk driver rear ended my PARKED 77 F100. He was driving a Honda CRX which was completely totaled in the accident. My truck suffered a creased left rear quarter panel and a bent bumper. I drove the 77 until I traded it in for an economical 4 clyinder Ranger in 91.

However THIS is a thread about a "*&%# Idiot !!!!!!!!!"

PS: A forum is a "soapbox".
If you know what this thread is about, then where the heck did post #5 come from?

I think if you want to get rid of the trucks and make a bunch of economy cars, then Ford Truck Enthusiasts probably isn't your thing.

Save your political babble for somewhere else. I for one don't buy it.

If you think a forum is a soapbox, then I don't know what to tell you.

He said his wife parked LEGALLY. (I had originally misread that too)

The funny part about this thread is that it started out about two people with no character; the guy/gal that backed into the truck and didn't bother to report it, and the insurance guy who wanted to ignore the problem.

I don't think Fat Ford Boy ever intended for his wife to get drug into this thread and slammed as an unthoughtful abuser of our planets resources. I think Club has some very large cyber-********* for doing so.

About the whole "driving to the gym to exercise", it seems absurd until you consider some other factors; no bike path/narrow road, dangerous neighborhood, distance to ride, among others. Not knowing those factors, you shouldn't judge, certainly not as harshly as inferring someone's wife is an idiot. (I mean, really Club, there is about 100 different ways to broach that subject without slamming chicks)

One other thing; not everyone can afford multiple vehicles, so if you can only afford one rig, and you need it to haul toys or other large things, then you get the big rig that you do everything in.

BTW Fat Ford Boy; I think the bigger idiot is the person that backed into your rig and drove off - though certainly insurance boy is a very close second. Sorry for your troubles.

Club, I do believe in being responsible with our resources, it is something that we should all be aware of and make an effort to control. The earth does have finite resources. With technology and better information about health and fitness, people are living longer, and ultimately using more in their lifetime. It is really just simple math - but for Pete's sake, leave the woman alone! (sorry - I couldn't help myself)

I've posted a number times on these FORDs' miserable MPGs. My "thing" is to see FORD to take a leadership role in high efficiency & alternative energy vehicles. You may dismiss it as "political babble" but I see no reason why FORD hasn't been offering the high MPG leaders in it's Light Truck lines.

I'm wildly enthusiastic about FORD's potential to remedy the past errors, that were only encouraged by Bush & his corporate cronies. This is a perfect place to discuss the utility, need & potential for new products from FORD. I'd like to see a stout 4 cylinder turbo diesel F150 that gets over 30 MPG. I really don't care if you "don't buy it". I'd like to see FTE members excited about high MPGs instead of swooning over high DBs.

The Need For Speed is withering on the vine. These trucks are no fun if you can't afford the gas to drive them. I've discussed Sprinter on the Econoline section & that comparison translates well into what I'd like to see FORD do w/F-Series. If my F150 got over 30 MPG I'd drive it all the time, not so much @ 14 MPG.

I do agree w/you on one point, you "don't know what to tell" me.

He also said "guy" & we presume he "didn't bother to report it". There may be more to the story.

Nice try presuming there was any attempt at "slamming chicks" which itself is "slamming" women. My sarcasm about driving anything/anywhere to exercise is in no way, shape, or form sexist & works equally well no matter who drove. The OP ID the wife, IMO its the same as if he'd posted SON. Any "slamming" is in your mind. The dry punchline lost on you is along the lines of 'We had to destroy the town to save it' or 'Fighting for peace is like ******* for chastity'.

Let me clarify this post, o.k. !?

#1

Wife drives truck across town, after she works all day long to work out center.

#2

She parks said truck LEGALLY, and properly

#3

Idiot, who drives a DODGE truck, backs across the street, into parking area where wifes truck is parked, and runs into drivers door of wifes truck

#4

Police gets called. Insurance information is exchanged, IDIOT is in the wrong. COP in a good mood does NOT give IDIOT a ticket, because IDIOT has a clean record, and owns up to hitting wifes truck. (Cops decision).

#5

Insurance adjuster, (not too smart of one), "thinks" that wifes truck is still "driveable", EVEN AFTER being told that the door is sprung 1 1/2" out from the roof, and that it is raining. DOES NOT get the idea that if driven in the rain, would ruin King Ranch interior.

#6

In my opinion driver who hit wifes truck = IDIOT

Adjuster = Idiot

As far as being mad at my wife,............ I don't understand why I would be. SHE WAS IN THE RIGHT !!!!!!!!! FURTHERMORE, if she wants to drive 10' to go to the exercise place, it is irrevelant, the point was that "Idiots" #1 hit the truck, and #2 Didn't know (didn't comprehend) the "actual condition" of the truck to even ask if it was driveable !!!!!!!!

Neither I or my wife are IDIOTS, so we refused to drive her truck in the rain.

Does this all make sense now ????

Whoops, I did presume incorrectly; the guy that backed into the truck did report it, which, at least to me, doesn't make him an idiot, just a careless driver. (I may have felt the same as FFB, had it been my truck)

I did not mean to imply that you were sexist, but I can see where you deduced that from my poor attempt at humor (slamming chicks) - My apologies.

I agree, the sarcasm you used could have worked equally well no matter who drove, however, it happened to be his wife, and it included considering that she may perhaps be "the idiot" for reasons other then what FFB was venting about.

It was only lost on me through what I perceived as an inappropriate segue into a very valid and worthwhile subject.

Best Wishes,

Couldn't agree more. That "COP" was a "*&%# Idiot !!!!!! b/c he did "NOT give (Dodge) IDIOT a ticket". IMO its one thing when a "cops decision" lets a victimless moving violation slip, but an entirely different situation when a driver error does real harm. Millions of drivers have lost "a clean record" merely keeping up w/traffic. When an "IDIOT" collides with a parked car there is no question about who is at fault.
