On my way to Jody's and filled up just when I entered SC and drove only 172 miles to where I'm going to spend the night tonight and filled 'er up and only got 17.9 mpg. Probably the worst mpg hwy I've ever gotten with this truck. Something is either going wrong or I did not have it filled all the way. We'll see, I will post the results after I fill up again either in SC or NC. on my way back North.
Good luck on the rest of your trip. I hope it turns out better than your fuel mileage, although 17.9 is pretty great for me and my truck. Let Jody take a crack at it, he will figure something out if there is something wrong.
Mark. What type of fuel have you been using? Maybe you've been introduced to the wonderful ULSD. Of course you could be dealing with the same 40 mph winds we've been having lately. If that keeps up I'm gonna rig a sail.

Mark what was your other tank mpg before this one. Ive been waiting for you to make this trip, your truck already get's good mpg. I want to see if Jody can improve on the mpgs on your way home.
Just had an interesting phone confab with one of the well known members here. I would swear on my Mother's grave that my mpg I just got is the worst I've ever gotten in all the years I've owned this truck. He said it's possible that I just got screwed by this truck stop in GA. It is very possible that their pump's are far enough out of calibration to give me what I consider shocking numbers. I wish I had a 5 gallon can with me, or even a 1 gallon with me to check his theory. Anyone else ever experienced this situation.
I heard about that on the news this week. They say some stations are cheating the customers. Like they dont get enough of our money, now they need to steal from us. I will do some looking around and see if I can find a number for you to call and have the station looked at.
Here in Texas, stations are checked every four years, or upon complaint. They are required to be +/- 10%. Ten freaking percent. Sheesh.
They also report that the split is about even on the over/under, so all in all we seem to be breaking even. Provided that you spread the fill-ups around.

Well now, that would be me and I hope that well known is a good thing. The reason I said that is one of the guys I work with took to 5gals cans to get fuel for his diesel skid steer and found out that the pumps were way off. Off enough that the manager refunded him part of the bill and shut the pump down. Just wonder how many gallons were sold prior to that.

It's bad when it is a honest mistake and something all together differant when it is on purpose, that's grounds for out right war.

10% of a fill up is a dang lot and will really screw up you mileage calculations. That's what I was telling Mark and why I don't put much stock in mileage calculations no matter how you do it. The only way you can be 100% sure what you mileage is, would be to first pump into a measured container then pour in your tank. I am like Mark, I am tempted to start checking the guys, now that fuel is $4.25 per gallon. .43 cent is worth the effort to make sure its close.

He stopped the pump at 5 gallons and his had markers on the side telling the amount in there. He barely had 4.5 gallons in it when the pump said 5 gallons even.
On my way back North I will use a different station and report as soon as I get back to the RV. Man was last night ever a long night in a Petro Truck Stop parking lot. I should be back in NC by 3:00 if the creek don't rise.
