Talk about your stupid question! I've got a '97 extended van and would like to change plugs. Are they in a different location than normal or do they have some other weird cap or something? I have spent an hour trying to find them. Of course, on teh van, you can't see or reach much anyway.
They are on the inside of the head in line with the fuel injectors. My '99 pickup uses the "COP" (which stands for Coil Over Plug) system. There are other threads dealing with chahnging this type of plug and what is involved. Typical dealer labor cost to change out a set of these is around $200 plus parts. The plugs are available at most auto supply stores and cost around $2 each. The individual coil packs have the spark plug boot attached and is not sold seperately. The job is not exceedingly difficult, but will take some time & patience (and probably a little skin). Read up on this before attempting the job and have all the necessary parts on hand. You should lightly lube the boots with a silicone grease such as Dow-Corning 55 prior to reinstalling the coils. Replacement coils are readily available from your local dealer for about $45 (I keep a spare on hand). The local auto parts store once told me they could get me one in a few days for around $65. It pays to do your homework!
