Just wandering is 5 pages of oasis report excessive? there are four different dealerships on the report. it appears that the turbo has been a a repeat offender on this truck.as well as no power issue and lots of white smoke on startup.also mentions several recall services that i dont know what the codes for them mean.this truck is starting too worry me. has any one else had that many issues with there oasis report.as mentioned i purchased a extended premium warranty with the truck but im not sure im going to keep this truck.this latest issue with the coolant smell under load might be the last straw for me .anyone have an oppinion good or bad???? thanks FFF
sounds to me like that previous owner got rid of the truck cause he was sick of taking it in to the shop. i would run for the hills from this one! when i bought mine it only had three items on the oasis. don't know what year your truck is but i would look for an 05-07 model year. they seemed to have all the bugs worked out by then. mine has 50,000 on it and not a problem one! 5 pages of crap is WAY excessive! good luck on your search
I would make a note about the dealerships on the Oasis report that tried to fix the problems and didn't (look at every repeat failure on the report). As far as I am concerned, you should find a good Ford dealership with excellent 6.0L diesel mechanics BEFORE you buy a 6.0L. Mechanics that just "throw parts" at these trucks are causing a lot of the concerns over reliability of the 6.0.
thanks for your replys , mxer, and bismic.the truck is an 05 350, cc lariet, 70,200 miles on it. this is not my first diesel by the way, i had a 00 250cc with the 7.3 never had issues with that truck.it had over 160k on it .i dont want to sound like a cry baby but this truck has been in the shop more then 5 times since ive owened it.i know its used but still its depressing, not to say frustrating, agravating you get the point. the dealer wants to give me around 5grand less than what i payed for it on a buy back. go figure...
I'd be scared to death with a 5 page oasis report. Too bad you didn't find us sooner and get the report before you bought the truck. I've bought a couple of used 06's and the longest Oasis I saw was one page.
If one or more Ford techs along the line just started throwing parts at it in a guess, there's no guarantee they actually put everything back together right. Having the extended warranty is a good thing. You just need to decide what's acceptable in terms of down time.
I dont think i would have bought the truck if i would have got the report first....this may sound stupid but i never new of the oasis report until joining the fte site.Ill be sure to run a report if i ever by another ford.
Yea I'm in the same boat. I didn't know what it was until I started posting on diesel forums. However, I asked for a carfax and other info on the truck and the selling dealership provided me with a carfax and oasis but I had no clue what it was at the time.
the wife says keep the truck but it seems like every other week something else goes wrong , im disgusted, my 00 7.3 never gave me trouble the only thing ever done motor wise was a water pump..i just do no what to do?
I know you probably don't want to hear this, but for $5k you can do some pretty serious RELIABILITY mods and have a truck that is near bullet proof (in my mind).
1. Gauges
2. Coolant Filter
3. ccv re-route to a filter (some say this isn't needed, but I think it is!)
4. Have them do the HPOP STC fitting bracket pro-actively
5. Get the latest flash for all 3 processors
6. Learn how to clean your turbo and at least how to replace the EGR yourself (some say cleaning it is not a reliable fix - opinions vary on this).
7. Synthetic oil - preferably CJ4 rating
8. Always use a fuel additive, BUT CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE
9. Learn the danger points on your vehicle's operating conditions and set alarms at conditions BEFORE the danger point.
10. ITP return regulated fuel system
My point is - do not take a $5k loss. The only way this would make sense is if your livliehood depended on you having a vehicle WITHOUT downtime. If you want to spend a little more, you can get a tuner for RELIABILITY (just need to tell the programmer what you want) and you will still have some spending money for a new turbo or injectors if you want.
Just wandering is 5 pages of oasis report excessive? NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!! mine is over 9 right now, and the P> O> S> truck is still at the dealer for most of the same friggin issues. we just got back from our vacation from hell, where we spent 2 nights at 2 diff dealers because they couldn`t figure out why i have no power and smoking white/blue/jet black. got towed in 4 times, and escorted by state troopers 4 times.( on the way to florida). 12 dealers in 6 days, on the way down! btw 07 f350 4x4 6.0 21k ont the od, 13k fifth, 100% factory. as soon as they get it to actually idle correctly, run right.... IT`S GONE!!.. shoulda known better to get another after the 05 lemon i had,
BUT!! this thing was a rocket on wheels and got fantastic fuel economy for the first 9 months we owned it. when the first turbo blew,(sept 07).... it`s been nothing but grief.
i hope you don`t go through what we have encountered.

Wow. That's the first time I've heard of this much trouble out of an 07. If it really is the same issues over and over maybe you should check into the lemon law. My 06's & 07 haven't given my any problems (except for those stupid squirrels eating the wiring).
(maybe you should check into the lemon law) wish we could!!! we are canadian.. and when you get a lemon..your stuck with it, absolutely NO consumer protection up here, and ford gm chrysler etc know it! our arbitration panel (CAMVAP) ( a joke.. a rep from ford gm and chrysler) might? and can only authorize more repairs for the same fixes... you want it bought back?? get a financial backer!!! and go to court. corporate folks will wisper in your ear that they will bank rupt you before you get that far... ( been there with my 05). don`t get me wrong, i loved this lemon for the first 9 months, but the last 7 or so months have been a living hell. and more than has swayed me after 30 plus years of ford ownership. being a ford employee myself!! makes it hurt even more when the area service
reps refuse to even talk to you.
