New guy with a question
I just found your site while searching for info on the ford 6.0. I am looking for a truck and I found a 06 f350 0r a 05 f250 that I like. I have heard rumors about the different engines and was hoping somebody here that has these years might offer some advice. Are the 06 and 05 allot different? What are the major issues etc? Thanks in advance for any help.

By 05-06 they have most of the bugs worked out, My advise would be to get an oasis report on the truck before buying. go to the top of the board and give the vin number of the truck, and you can find out what oasis says. Good luck and welcome to FTE

I haven't experienced a lick of trouble with mine.
Time will tell however if something was bad it would have manifested by now.
Good choice on the 05-07's. These will offer you a better bargain than new.
Not fond of the 08's, too square and everywhere it's stamped or embossed "superduty". However I do like their dash layout and console.

The 05's seem to have a history of High Pressure Oil Pump "Snap-to-Connect" (STC) fitting failures. Some 06's do as well though. Other than this, I think (if properly maintained), they are fantastic. If all else is equal, I would go for an 06 or 07.

Thanks guy's, this really help's allot. It sounds like most of the problems I have found in my research is caused by poor maintenance. I think I will get the 06 dually. I dont care for the new look either, I think the headlights look low or something. Thanks again.

I bought an 07 early last year because of all of the rebates offered to get them off the lots to make room for the 08's. I traded my 04 KR for an 07 Lariat and I am absolutely pleased with it. I agree with you on the 08 head lights also. To me they look like someone (no offense) with down syndrome. If I could put the 08 interior in my 07 I think I would have an aw sum truck. Its nice to have a truck that is completely stock and while pulling a trailer with a tractor on it I was able to out run people trying to cut me off on the interstate. You gotta luv a diesel.

Good choice. Even though the bunny huggers will shake their finger at you for buying that global warming, contributing, fuel drinking beast!
On a side note...
My 05' 350, cc, lwb Lariat has peaked 60k miles and other than the turbo at 12k has had absolutely 0 problems. (I bought it used - Oasis showed the Turbo at 12k)
325/65/18 Terra's w/ 3.73 gears - Only a Cat Back exaust and I'm nearing 600 / mile tank @ 39 gallons.
I'll pay a little more per mile operated for comfort, safety, power and style. Call me crazy I know.
