This is the deal I've owned this truck for about 4 years now with no problems. The truck has good power but this is the problem. I went out and bought a 99 Mustang GT with all the mods. I know my truck isn't a GT, but now I need more power now in old BIG RED. Do you guys think this will help?
-Underdrive pullies ( free up HP )
-Electric fan (Free up HP)
-Advance timing 2 degrees
What do you think I would gain from this?
Any other mods without pulling the motor?
THANKS.............

Did you re-gear when you put on the 33"s? A cam will make more of a difference than all of that stuff you have listed, if you do any low RPM wheeling, the pulleys and electric fan will leave you with a dead battery and an overheated engine, because the pulleys will spin the alternator slower and make less juce, and the fan will use more juce, and will eventually kill the battery, and it won't move anywhere the amount of air the stock clutch fan will. No problem with advancing the timing, but, of all that stuff, you'd be better off with a cam change.

No I didn't regear. The reason is normal cruzing on the hiway. I am usually up around the 2800-3000 rpm range, my truck redlines about 4700 thats why I didn't go with the gears. I never really go low RMP offroading so thats not a problem. On the beach I'm in low, cruzing about 2500 thats about as low as I go. Cam! Not into ripping the engine yet so thats out.

LAST EDITED ON 31-Jul-01 AT 02:58 PM (EST)[p]I agree with Evan, I would stay away from underdrive pulleys. Have you thought about a chip? The electric fan setup is also good stuff. Gearing is good too.
Anyone do this before? do you say stay away becouse you had a bad luck with them?? Underdrive pullies reduce the alternator by 25% and is back at full charge by 900 RPM. the water pump is reduced by 10% and the power steering by 5%. I am hardly ever under 900 RPM. Like I said did you guys have bad luck with them? I think this combo would give me a good 20HP. It sure worked on my 99GT.
