DP Tuner Tunes

Got everything done for adding a tuner - gauges, 4" exhaust, 6637 Filter and TransGo shift Kit. So I going to order a DP Tuner tonight. I already spoke with Jody and gave him my PCM code- MNM1. The truck is used for cruising - city & highway and infrequent light hauling, lumber, bags of dirt, gravel, mulch/wood chips. Not really foreseeing towing anything. I do not drive the truck like I stole it. The tunes I am to going to get are: No Start, stock, 60T, 80E and I am on the fence about 120. Is there enough difference between it and 80E? What about high idle? Anything I overlooked? Thoughts? Thanks.. Neil

I got the 140 smoke to play with. I don't think you would see much difference in the 120 and 80e. A BTS-VB would be a nice addition to your setup, and keep the tranny cool and might last longer.

You are going to have a new truck.

EDIT: Forget what I said about the BTS, I see you have the transgo.

I feel a difference in the 120 vs. the 80. I don't know if you will think it's a 445 difference. I think it is. Now the difference between the 120 and the 140 are small as far as performance, in fact, the 120 is probably a bit stronger off the line, but the smoke on the 140 is way darker and therefore much better for sooting ricers and Realtors in their Cadillac Escalade "pick-ups" like I did today.

What's $45 like 3 gallons of Diesel? Get the 120 and the 80.

I feel a difference in the 120 and 80 as well. I never use the 120 though, 80e is plenty.

There was virtually no difference in my truck on the dyno between 120 & 140 except the soot cloud at take off. However, there is a ~20 rwhp/80 tq gain between the 80 & 120/140 (294/601 on 80e, 311/681 on 120r). Well worth the $45... I like high idle because it cools my cab off quicker in the hot summers and lets me run my high-current accessories easily. That one depends on whether you think you need it or not. I think high idle is only $25 anyway, right? Might as well get it for that money...

I will agree with mongo on that one. You will probably go through a tank of fuel in record time.

Ordered

Thanks for the input everyone.

I decided to get:

No start
Stock
Hi Idle 1200 rpm
60 Tow
80E

I decided that I am not going to race the truck as I have a car for that so I opted out of the 120. And from what I've heard the 80E is really 105 so......In fact, I probably don't need the 60T either but I got it just in case I end up towing something.

Thanks everyone. Now I can't wait to get and install it.

Neil

Ok, I can respond with some real advice now. I just got mine in and had a coulpe of days to play. Let me tell you this, The 80E is more than I will ever need. The 120R and 140E are just plain insane. I can feel a differance between all the tunes. I went with NS, Stock, 60T, 80T, 80E, 120R, 140Extreme. The latter two are pure fun. The 140 will really turn the lights on if you lay into it. the 120 will make plenty as well, but seems to have more usable power with my truck setup now.
My advice would be to spend the extra $45.00 and get you a fun tune, get the 140 and use it when you just have to. Like at a stop light when them dang crotch rocket riders stay on your *** from light to light. I think I can back them off now. The 60T will tow most anything and do it with some guts.
