Found a local place here in alabama who finally sells bio diesel. When i drove by it had b70 on the pump and was 3.79 a gallon. I think i am gonna start running it. IS basically the only thing i need to is to get a couple extra fuel filters just incase they clog up from the bio cleaning out my fuel system?
No Tim there's one more thing. You need to wear a big stupid grin since you're getting it so cheap. The extra fuel filter is a good idea. You may or may not need it.
Congratulations on finding such a great deal on the price.
I've tried B5 up to B99. The most I noticed was about 1MPG drop with B99. Sometimes I didn't notice any at all with the B99. I've used it when I could find it for the last 100k or so.
As far as the truck running with it, the engine sounds like it smooths out a little as soon as that stuff hits the injectors. It has something to do with combustion characteristics, but I can hear a difference with B20 or above. I like it when the engine sounds smoother.
Not that it should be an issue now, but in colder climates, bio-diesel will gel quicker than regular petroleum diesel. You also won't have to add any lubrication additives to the fuel using bio-diesel. It's actually the best lubrication additive out there from what I've read.

Were you buying premix or were you mixing it yourself? I dump the calculated amount in to get B40 and I notice over 1 mpg loss at B40. More than that and the loss increases. Up to B40, the loss is hard to peg down.

Not that you need any additives at this time. At least nobody has proven that we do other than the speculation of some stupid reports of lubricity differential.

I've always bought premix. I've tried B5, B20, B50 & B99. I do drive like a grandpa and always use cruise on the highway so driving style may have something to do with it, or it could be elevation & the lack of hills around here. I don't know, but I'll turn 250k on the odo tomorrow and I set the trip at each fill up so I'm comfortable with my numbers.
