I have been having problems with fuel leaks on top of the engine block. I have had it in the shop twice to repair @ $250 per time. I found the leak the third time, it was the o rings on the filter drain valve. Well now again I have a leak it appears somewhere near the rear of the engine. The top of the block down between the heads it all full of fuel and it leaks bad enough it runs down the back somewhere and down near the oil pan. It doesn't run out when engine is running just notice puddle on garage floor. I have not talk to the repair shop to see what it was last time. Any Ideas? Also wondering if it is a common problem. I have owned this truck for 5 years with minimal problems leaks started about 1.5 years ago. With $4.20 fuel I would like to get the problem fixed. By the way my truck is a 1999.5 F-250 4X4 7.3 Diesel.
Well, if it fuel coming from your fuel bowl, did you make sure you didn't crimp the seal for the fuel filter(if you changed it). Another question, are you sure its not oil. These fluids run down through the valley too. good luck on your fined.
The man that owns the shop you go to. What color is his Mercedes? I suspect you're still having water drain valve problems. Engine off, key on, get on top of engine with flashlight and look for fuel coming out near that valve with the yellow handle on it at the bottom rear of the filter housing. Take the ginger bread cover off so you can really look in there.
You might want to clean the engine valley first. Use mean green or something similar. Also know that fuel or oil running down the back of the engine usually originates from somewhere on top of the enging. Search it good and you will find it. You will also be able to repair it. And you will most likely save yourself about $240. Minus the beer, of course.
It is not the fuel filter or drain valve, fuel is in the rear half, right where you can't see real well with a flashlight. I will try cleaning it off the engine and search for it. As for the shop that repaired it, it was a local ford dealer.
