I'd like to know what year(s) the 302 and 351W in Trucks got roller tappet cams? Or did they? Mustangs got them earlier? I believe the crate 302s are basically what comes in Explorers/Mountaineers now. They have rollers? Anybody know?
i dont think the 351w ever had a roller cam...the blocks were not retro fited for them...
migranie
90 eddie b bronco
98 mustang gt (its my wifes and im not allowed to drive it)
67 mustang fastback 351 stroked to a 408 600 hp street/strip
67 corvete coupe 671 weiand blower 1200 hp
351w's did have roller cams. 1st generation lightnings had roller 351's in them. I THINK the switch was somewhere around 88 or 89. ALL 302's were machined for roller after 86 i believe, but not all truck actually used roller cams. It's a simple switch from flat to roller. All you have to do is get the roller lifters and push rods for a roller motor.
i forgot about the part on securing lifters. you have to use donor parts out of a roller block like the spider looking brace and the pieces that hold the lifters straight.
hi 15sec79...you can now purchase a kit for about $50.00 and pay another $50.00 to have it machined in...the machining consist of drilling and tapping 2 holes in the lifter valley in the middle of the block between the v...then just bolt the kit in...this is a very easy procedure...this will now be what you need to now accept a roller cam...
