Roger that. No hits toward the guy. He seems ready and willing to answer questions. The knock is, he has a beast on his hands and knows no idea how it got that way. I meant no disrespect. I hope he does well in his venture. He's got it right about it being a head turner, it's actually the front bumper that got mine.
You need to think outside of the box too. This is a conversion that is almost an urban legend that would require bucks and lots of time. Everything else is fixable unless the frame is a mess. The hardest part is done, and hopefully in good running condition.
Because of the nature of the beast, I also agree a thorough inspection would need to be done before purchase.
Back on the body lift issue. Paul and Tony, if you look close at all the pics, you can see the 2" block on top of the stock bushing, which his where he probably came up with the 4"s. The front is sitting level because they must have changed his springs out. Paul, remember I mentioned about my 1st stage of my 150 was to put stock f-350 2wd coils in and it gave me a little over stock lift (about 1-2"), and if they went that far, I'm willing to bet they also put in a set of 250 rear springs which is why the no block. Either that or it has a shackle reversal and the stock block is removed. Just a guess.....
karl i see what your sayin about the body lift. and that would make sense. i also agree about the front springs. it is possiable that the springs have been swapped out all the way around for a possiable 2 inch suspension, with the 2 inch block that would give him 4 inches of lift. if i was the buyer i would def buy it and just be sure to go threw the truck with a fine tooth comb and make sure all mounts and suspension are up to par. like Hottie said all the hard and expensive work has been done. i would also try and contact the builder and see what he has to say about it as well.
they wanted 16,000 when it was for salin st. louis....i don't know how much he paid but...
i think it might be a 2" body lift, and a 2" suspension lift, but idk.
that front bumper was stock on all '96 trucks...if you where refering to the vents.
he messaged that the previous owner (Bob) had a reserve of $15,000, thats what he paid. he said he might add a buy it now price of $17-18k WOW!! he said he has only put 3800 miles on it. i don't know what to think. he doesn't know much about the truck, and that's a hell of alot of $ for a 12 year old truck, but like you guys said, the hard part is done, and seems to be done right
at almost 20k im sorry but id pass on that. you can buy an engine and do most of the work for that much then have the piece of mind to know it was right. powerstrokes with some miles on them arnt that much and neither are broncos. just my opinion.
thats kinda my opinion to. i don't understand why he paid 15k for it especially if he's not even into bronco's. you can get alot newer psd truck for that much. if he seriously wants that much out of it, it puts me out of the bidding. 18k is a little rediculous if you ask me
Cool,
I've always wanted to do this. I cant bid on something so far away. The one thing I would require is the phone number of the guy that did the conversion. I would want him to make a list of everything he changed. Hopefully he still remembers! I did this for people that bought my previous trucks. It makes it so much eazier when going to the parts store. The only other thing I wonder is what trans/transfercase its got. Does a F350 use the same T-case as a Bronco. All that torque would be great, until your T-case gernades! I like the millage, if he's being truthful.
