I am interested in putting a propane system on my 2000 Ford F-250 7.3 spd truck with 108,000 miles. I want to increase my mpg and also get more power. I havea 4inch straight exhaust, airaid intake, and a edge evolution programmer. I want to know what is the best kit to buy for my truck, the safest (engine wise) most reliable system there is. I would appreciate any input or feedback that you all could give me.
Thankyou
Luke
I would think that getting a dptune or custom chip would be best since they can account for the propane, im not really sure if it even matters but i would think it would. other than that I have no idea, and can just bump you back up lol
Propane was what folks used years ago, but it's pretty frowned-upon now, as the power gain is fairly minimal while the blowupedness factor is not.
A much better option and definitely much simpler/cheaper is a programmer or chip of some sort, such as from dp-tuner.com. A programmer you merely plug into the OBD II port, and a chip you simply attach to the PCM, and away you go... totally customizeable power settings for towing/racing/daily driving, etc. You can get one for as little as a few hundred bucks, and you'll typically make about 300hp and 615 ft-lbs of torque, roughly, on a 7.3L with a chip in the hotter settings.
Stick around the 7.3L section for a few days and you'll read all about it.
