The Ripple Effect!

Anyone notice the SKYROCKET in food prices lately?

Some quick Examples -
Beef jerky - last month $5.49 for a regular sized bag. Today i checked 2 gas stations, a 7-11, and murrays. - 7.99!!!!

2 bottles of regular sized gatorade at the gas station $4.59

Plums- last month $4.99 a pound this month $7.99!

Went and got groceries at costco - $400 bill for a simple cart load of groceries.

This is getting bad. The high cost of shipping products has started to take its toll on all prices. Consumers are gonna cut back big time

If this s**t continues i'll be eating dog food. My wife went shopping and spent 180 bucks or so and walked in the door with about 8 paper bags filled. This is crazy!

The examples listed above are cause and effect.

the oil your wife was looking to buy was probably soybean oil, or corn oil. there is less acreage planted in soybeans over the last 24 months because the particular corn that is grown for ethanol is a more profitable crop, but does not yeild well for corn oil production. Well Im sure youve seen the news about the rice. The dog foods major component is vegetable oil, and corn and rice. We are just starting to feel the impact of the highery delivery costs.

LTL carriers are starting to adjust their charges, but there is so much more competition in the FTL category that they are just now starting to be able to recover thier costs.

Also, take notice that many manufacturers, instead of raising prices, decrease the quantity.

For example, they used to offer product X in a 16 oz bag for $3.47. Now its only 12 oz. for the same price, etc. etc.

No, the beer companies have not gone cheap on us, you just had too many and thought it sounded good.

[edit] Longneck

A longneck is a type of beer bottle with a long neck. It is known as the standard longneck bottle or industry standard bottle (ISB). The ISB longnecks have a uniform capacity, height, weight and diameter and can be reused on average 16 times. The long neck offers a long cushion of air to absorb the pressure of carbonation to reduce the risk of exploding. The American longneck holds 12 US fl. oz. (355 mL). The Canadian longneck holds 12 Imperial fl. oz. or 341 mL.
In Canada, in 1992, the large breweries agreed to all use a longneck bottle of standard size, thus replacing the traditional stubbie bottle
