Turbo is not going to help much in the case of beating your buddy. If anything, its going to make you slower, without more fuel. Looks like you need to investigate some injectors or more ICP to get some more power.

Van turbo will get you lower EGTs and maybe it might be more efficient. What you will need is the adapter from Beans Diesel since the EBPV part of the turbo will not fit. No reflash necessary. I talked to Jody for my case

Keep in mind that if you do get injectors, you WILL need reflashed (especially if you go with Single-Shots). How bad did you get beat? The reason I ask is that once you start down this path, it gets $$expensive$$. If you go with the stage II singles, that will get you right around the 400RWHP mark. And you will likely need something done with your turbo anyway. You can get away with going to a van-style turbo at that power level I think. There was a recent thread that basically stated that not too long ago. Which really got my attention, since 400 RWHP is my goal!!. Beans actually sells the 1.0 exhaust housing and adapter (CLICKY)that will get you essentially a "van turbo", or you can get the one you have lead on and buy just the exhaust adapter for $100 (unless it's coming with one, which would be a friggin' steal!!).

If it were me, I'd jump on that van turbo deal in preparation for the bigger sticks. The Single Shots really are the way to go since you won't be forced into big oil. Go any bigger than that, and you'll have to drop another $1300 or so on something like the Pulse to supply the needed oil to the injectors. Then, you'll need a bigger turbo again...................... You see where this is going, right?

After all that, with his dumb Cummins, he can jump to the 500+HP mark pretty quickly (and cheaply) and burn you again, then you really have to get out your wallet to compete. I wish you luck!!!

thx izzy I will be picking that turbo up....the reason i'm getting a great deal is that a friend of mine was a mech for the casino and he put the turbo on, not 3 mounths later they scaped 3 of the vans....so he told me what wreaking yard had them, i went by an they said 200$ takes i didn't have the money that day but they are holding it for me....I was already thinking about the single shots mostly beacause i wouldn't need a new hpop to run them

Is your 99 an early or late? It might make a difference then, I think.

That sucks. Well, wait a few weeks for the new terminator single to be out, get that or the pulse, a set of stage two singles, a Dominator 66 and possibly a torque converter!

Just got more expensive, the van turbo won't be a direct bolt on even with the exhaust adapter. Different spider and pedestal.

I would pick it up anyway, buy more if there are more vans there.

Edit: You may be able to upgrade to late 99 by using the vans pedistal and spider.

See what they want for the whole shebang, let me know I would love to upgrade if I could find the parts cheap.

Hey, guys. I just picked up a good used van turbo for a hundred bucks. It is coming with the pedestal, but the stock exhaust flange. Did I do okay?

I would say that is a steal. Is the turbo in good shape?
