Hello all, I wanted to ask if anyone had seen this particular problem before and if so, could offer some advice on what might be wrong.
First off, I have a 1996 Ford Explorer 6 cylinder. All in all, it's been a great vehicle and is still in great shape. The problem I have been having lately is with the environmental controls. There are two problems, I'll do my best to explain/describe them:
First - The heater fan will quit working, nothing you do will get it to come back on. Wait a little while, from a few minutes to a few hours and it will start up again and then not mess up for days, weeks or months. Very internittent so it's been hard to troubleshoot.
Second - Temperature controls have stopped working correctly. You can turn the selector to Max/AC and you get cold air, but any other setting and you get hot heat. AC, vent, whatever and the temp control (cold to hot) has no effect. So basically, you choose real cold or real hot or nothing at all.
If anyone has any ideas or guidance, I would be grateful for some help. Thanks in advance, I have gotten great information in the past and I appreciate all the help.
