I had the same problem with a 2005 6.0. it only expelled white smoke during warm up after a complete cool down. It ended up being the EGR cooler had a crack in the system. Check and monitor your coolant level. If this is your problem ford covers the emmisions for 100 thousand. If over 100 thousand buy an EGR cooler bypass setup and stop boiling your coolant!

The 7.3 does not have an EGR system installed.
It's one of the reasons us 7.3 folks like to keep them around. A LOT less trouble.
