reverse oil pressure problem
my 94 Bronco 302 runs low oil pressure when cold or in cool weather. It gets up into the higher range as the engine warms up and seems to hold pressure fine whrn hot when at idle. This is usually not the norm, could my censor be at fault? mwalpole

The oil is thick when cold. This makes it hard for the oil pump to create pressure. My 87 with a 300 does the same thing. One day in Jan. of this year I had no oil pressure for the first two minutes that the engine was running. It was 8 degrees out side. Since then I put in a dipstick heater if it gets below 20. How cold was it when you had this problem?

heres the thing - unless you installed an aftermarket gauge the factory unit is a switch, an idiot light but instead of the light its a gauge. So its likely your faulty reading gauge is the fault of a bad sensor switch and nothing to do with the engine mechanics/oil system.

Tks for the input, I havn't checked with a mechanical guage yet. I have always used Castrol 10w40 since I got the truck a few years back as a used vehicle. I'll post when I find out if my sensoe is bad or thick oil. Temps range anywhere from 20 to 60 degrees here in my part of tennessee during winter. major

reverse oil pressure problem
I picked up an oil pressure sensor at auto zone and installed it. my pressure now runs better than half scale. I haven't driven it far enough to get the oil up to operating temp, but i think this cured my problem. tks guys very much. I'll keep in touch. I enjoy the chats very much,
