hey folks i just bought a 1990 f-350 with a 7.3, ran home fine went to restart and wouldnt. after thuro investigation i have fuel all the way up thru the fuel line into the IP. but notta coming out on #1 line. when i turn the key on i hear the idle solenoids working, cant figure it out.
as a side note the truck was almost outta fuel when it came home and i wondered if air locked but i didnt get any air from the fuel line. i did put fuel in it.
I posted and didn't read your whole post very well and missed the last sentence that said you put fuel in it, so i deleted mine since you already put fuel in the tank. Sorry
heartnurse73,
Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.
If you did suck in some air, it takes a bit of bleeding and cranking to get it started again.
Please be careful cranking the starter, 20 seconds max crank time then at least 2 minutes cool time before cranking again.
Starters are very easy to overheat, and expensive to replace.
You do have fuel to the IP now?
Loosen a couple injection lines, then try starting again, with the throttle held on the floor.
When you start seeing fuel seep out of the injection lines, retighten the line nuts.
Best to keep the tank over 1/4 tank, such a pain to get a diesel started after running out of fuel.
