Yep the entire cab from the frame......

LOL...

No, just reach up through the cowl vent (The triangular vents) it never leaves the cab stamping. Most antennas were added later at the dealer so there will be differing locations for the coax to pass from the cowl to the cab. Typically a hole is drilled up near the top of the cowl and the coax pushed through without a grommet.

It is some times easier if not saving the old antenna to cut the end off at the radio side to pull it through easier.

Feed back through in reverse.

Suggestion = tie a long, heavy piece of string to the cable end, then pull the antenna off. Tie the end of the string to the new cable, pull the string under the dash to feed the cable back thru that cowl hole.

Without the string, feeding the cable thru that cowl hole is a PITA!

New repro antennas are available from Dennis Carpenter.

It's the same antenna the 1961/64 Galaxies used: C3AZ-18813-C

Parts catalog: Illustration section 188, page 2 shows how the antenna itself dis-assembles.

Ive done the removal...Im a smaller framed guy, but its still a pain turning ones self into a contortionist...if you have the fresh air heater, I recomend pulling the flex duct and the round attaching ring thats held on the kick panel by 3 5/16 screws as I recall...3 rd one is at 9 o clock when looking at ring directly..also commonly buried a bit in the plastic...be careful as these arent being repopped...I got po'ed at mine and yanked it off...was working on hood hinge blind nut at the time...
Also, since you got this all apart, a great time to suck/push the crud out of the bottom of the kick panel...

Yeah, thats how I ended up doing it CS, pulling the heater duct. It was easy once that was out.

ya....ya need every bit of room for the elbow and so on...plus pulling the ring as well as the flr vent you can get a straight shot view of the antenna area...or nearly so.
