1995 f350 need front axle options?

Just bought a 95 f350 4x4 crewcab with no front axle. I know a 90's dana 60 will fit as it was the stock axle. But because of cost could I get by with a HD dana 44 as I have one in my garage untill I find dana 60 funds. What other dana 60's will fit and which is best? Truck will see no off road time and not much towing. Thanks

any Dana 60 mono-tube axle from an 86 to 97 F350 will be a direct bolt in. then you will also have to worry about the gear ratio matching the rear-end's gears.
