Re: all 352/360's become 390's on sale day, when a good friend had his 360 die back in the early eighties,a local engine rebuilder gave him the choice of a 360 or a 390 for the same price, and took his 360 core. Perhaps many rebuilders offered this same deal?...that certainly doesnt account for all the 352/360's magically converting themselves to 390's,i also suspect many sellers just plain dont know what FE model they have! In my own case,i bought a 72 F100 around the turn of the century, and on sale day,its 428 became a 390.
Speaking of bottling oil, when I worked for Conoco many years ago, their Ponca City refinery was canning Conoco oil one minute then slipped Motorcraft oil cans in and kept on filling. Conoco was good oil back then, back in the mid 60's.
i wonder if the synthetic guys do the same thing...
different bottle same stuff
..i actually use 20/50 syn in my shelby..but for sure it is "not" a daily driver and only change it once a year. the other fe's are doing real well on regular 20-50 valvoline.

John
A 600 CFM 4 barrel will out gas mileage that 2 barrel everyday of the week, as long as you stay out of the secondaries and you can take that to the bank.
huh??? an fe dont think so,,,,, it was set to the passenger side more to clear the gear box for steering but not front to back like a small block.

The driver's side cylinder bank sets roughly an inch back from the front of the block. The passenger side cylinder bank is even with the front of the block...At least that is the case with the 5 FEs I have sitting around here.
That's the one! You sound familiar with that part of the country.
I have a brother who lives in Pawhuska. We went to visit him this year, and went by the plant. We dodged tornado's and storms all the way to Branson Missouri. The tornado that tore up the town just west of Bartlesville went right over the top of us but did not touch down until about 30 miles east of Pawhuska. The tornado's were going Southeast, so we went Northwest from Branson. We hit high winds from Nebraska through Nevada on I-80.
