ok i got a 94 f 150, 5.0L, now when ever it is humid out or it rains the truck will not start , or if im driving and it starts raining the truck will die eventually. its like theres a wire thats getting moisture in it causing the truck to die. after it dies it wont start until you leave it sit for a few hours (probably after whatever is gettin moisture in it drys). when the truck is dead it turns over fine its, getting spark to the plugs its getting fuel to the rail but i dont have to tools to see if the injectors are firing.
ive tryed to make it die by pouring water on the distributor, and spraying most wires/connections but everytime i do it, it wont die and when it does die ive already got too many things wet to pinpoint whats killin it
has anyone ever had this problem? or is this a common problem? my guess is not any help/advice would be greatly apperciated thanks
When it`s raining and you go to start it can you hear the fuel pump running? Also good suggestion from Creel, you may want to think of a tune-up kit of a wire set, dist.cap and rotor.
yes the fuel pump is running and the cap, rotor, plugs wires are all new i dont think it has anything to do with the distributer cause its gettin spark to the cylinders, and i poured a cup of water on the dist and it didnt do anything i also check last night the injectors are fireing when its dead. so either they are dumping too much fuel or its got something to do with timing. idk this problem is driving me nuts
Bump, and if water is the issue then just consentrait on one area of the compartment at a time. One day soak the right side and the next the left side. Process of elimination.
well i finally got someone to help me with the truck after it died i got them to crank it over while i watched. found the coil was arcing from the side while it was cranking so i changed the coil hopefully that was my moisture problem.
now i have a different problem dont know if its related or not. when i go out to start the truck in the morining it doesnt wanna start very good it cranks lots and stumbles alot then clears up but when you give it throttle it stumbles and wants to die but still will idel fine. so after about 5 mins or so of idleing it runs fine. what could be causing this
