Question on F250

My buddy has a '02 F250 and when he turns it shakes or "shutters" at the rear axle. The gear oil has just little over 20,000 miles on it and I guess it has been getting more and more noticeable since a year ago.

I was thinkin it is the traction lok binding or just worn out I am assuming but what do you guys think or have ran into?

i would go ahead and change the fluid and make sure you add friction modifier, ford sells the friction modifier. Or you can hange the fluid to Royal Purple and be done with it.

Agreed. The LS rear end will chatter without a modifier.

If you get the Royal Purple synthetic axle fluid, it has the modifier in it already. Is it more expensive? Yes. Is it likely to last longer? yes. Is it easier. You betcha. Worth the extra $$ to me.
