I was over there today and got the hood open, just jiggles the latch and it just popped up easy(BTW there is no remote release lever just the little tab in the center of the hood).
It has the Ford straight 6, it apears to only be missing the manifold, carb and distributor cap. Also the truck has no exhaust(no piping/no muffler) but who needs that, haha. I'm going to take a look at the engine and if everything looks ok I'll probably try to pick up a manifold/carb so I can cruise around in it till I find a V8 to swap in.

So now, anyone have any info on engine swaps? I want at least 400CI and a manual tranny. I'd also really like to use a ford engine. What kind of work am I looking at?

Hi and welcome aboard.
To swap in an entirely different engine/tranny takes a fair bit of work with a shop full of tools and some automotive repair knowledge.
With today`s gas prices if this 6 runs ok (though that`s expecting alot) it may not be a bad deal even if an over haul is needed.

it turns over fine.
What years/engines/vehicles use the same intake/exhaust manifold and carb? That's all it's missing.

Also I might have acess to a ford 300 straight six? Would that be a bolt in swap?

here are some pics of it pulled out. We're going to strip the interior and remove the engine so we can fix the rust and paint it.

Same parts: F100/750 > 1954/64 223 I-6 / 1954/63 Ford Custom/Galaxie.

Ask FTE member Col Flashman about the 300 swap, he has one in his 1958 Mercury pickup.

LOOK on the inside of the glove box door for the VIN plate...Ford put it there 1948 thru 1962.
