Oil pressure gone.....

Can anyone help me... I have a 03 F-250 with a 6.0 deisel, today I changed the oil, afterwards the oil pressure guage will not show any pressure. If I run the RPM's up to about 1200 the oil pressure will read normal, when the RPM's drop back to less then 1000 the oil pressure guage will drop down to nothing. The oil level is good and I installed a new Fram oil filter.....Anyone have any Ideas.

From: Weatherford Texas.
If you actually had no oil pressure the 6.0 would not run, since it requires oil pressure to fire the injectors. but other than that somebody with knowledge will chime in soon.

The low pressure switch activates at 5 psig. Do you have a CEL?

As far as the FRAM goes - you need to make sure it is an OEM STYLE filter or you can have big problems.

Thanks Guys... not sure what a CEL or a HPOP is, maybe someone can help me out with that. As far as the oil filter I compared it to the OEM filter and it looked the same.

CEL - check engine light
HPOP - high pressure oil pump (for actuating your injectors w/ high pressure oil)

I feel stupid now...I did figure it out after I thought about it a little while. The check guages light comes on when the oil pressure guage drops off, but no CEL. The truck starts fine and runs out good... but the guage will drop to zero at an idle.

Oil pressure is back!!!!

Simple Simple Simple....I thought I would start by pulling the filter back out to look for any obstructions. What I found was at the bottom of the oil filter housing there is a spring, with some type of valve setting on top of it. Some how during the process of changing the filter that valve and spring was knocked out of place. Put it back in place; and all is good in 6.0 land again.
