Hello, I would like to buy a new Drywall Drill (corded) and have no idea which one is the best for the money. I think I would like it to be reversible and if they have a depth gauge that would help. If anyone has suggestions on brand and model I sure would appreciate it. I have never owned one and am getting ready to remodel an old house and I know I will need one.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
My favorite to date is a Makita with screw strips, like this: QuikDrive Auto-Feed Screw Driving Systems
Much, much easier to use than individual screws, and much faster.
I have decided that the drywall drill does not need to be reversible.
DeWalt seems to be the favorite brand drywall drill.
Can anyone recommend a particular model number that is a good dependable one?
I also should mention that I was hoping to only spend around $100.
Thank You!
Reversable is very important, because if you zip the screw in and miss the stud/joist you have to back it out and move it otherwise it will sag at some point ruining the clean lines of the ceiling/wall (dimple). Doing that with needlenose pliars is not fun.
*I* use an ordinary corded drill with a drywall tip. Screws go in the perfect depth every time and I can use the drill for anything... mine has a clutch feature as well. Heck of a lot cheaper than an official drywall gun.
Every dewalt drywall drill I've seen has had a reverse feature, and I agree, it is very important if you miss, or if you forgot something and have to take the drywall down.
