I wash my truck then get in it and get it dirty again. This is a none ending cycle. As far as waxing, I might do that once a year. you never wax the paint on the newer trucks, you only wax the topcoat. Not like the older vehicles, I remember when waxing my 70 Barracuda, the rag would turn the same color as the paint. But when I do wax it I use what I can find on the shelf.
I had good luck with the turtle wax liquid ice last time I waxed my truck. Great if you have little time! There is probably a better wax out there, but it literally took less than 30 min to do my truck!
I have talked to a couple of custom car painters and they told me not to wax a clear coat finish. Just keep it clean and let it breathe. I have been doing that for 2 1/2 years. My truck sits outside 24/7 and the paint still looks every bit as good as it did 2 1/2 years ago. It doesn't have that slippery, just waxed feel, but you can still see yourself in it, and its white.
I also use Super Glaze by The Wax Shop on my car(not my truck) and like TN97STROKE it is hard to find. It has supposedly been discontinued by The Wax Shop but can be found online, although at a premium. I will be watching this thread for a new product to try.
I got some Meguiar's ColorX to work out some scratches; especially the ones where one of our stupid cats (probably Midnight) tried to jump up on the hood and almost made it. To my surprise, it actually worked! The scratches are gone after a couple of applications. I've a few more spots to work on before tackling the big job.
The big job is getting rid of what looks like water stains. These stains are all over the paint AND the glass. You can only see them up close; from across the parking lot the paint looks brand new.
Maybe I can get some free samples somewhere and try them out.

Sorry Robin but that advise they gave you is bogus. Every vehicle for the last 15-20 years has a clear coat which is the same as the paint except no pigment in it. That is obviously a little simplistic I realize but basically correct. Wax away on that clear coat. Wax on, wax off grasshopper! LOL
