I have bought the inner and outer tie rods for my 1998 Rangers 2wd with 3 liter.
What I want to know is this.
Do I need any other parts for changing those tie rods. I wont be doing it and a friend of mine will but I dont want him to stop because something is missing.
I think if you have rack and pinion, you should get new boots, at least get new clips to hold the boots in place. Assuming that this has R&P, because the others don't have inner tie rods ends. There is a special tool needed to disconnect the inner from the rack. You will also need a press or pickle fork to disconnect the outers from the steering knuckle. Don't forget to get the toe-in set. You can get pretty close if you count turns as you disassemble and re-assemble the parts.
