I think it looks much cleaner with the shorter hose anyway......I do not have dual alternators, and being is that I just changed the belt today and the original one had 77k on it and still looked very useable.
I'll comonly run belts and hoses about 100k and just change them out, so I'm not real worried about highway failure this way.
Cookie88, Yea, telling me or anyone else to try & move the RADIATOR towards the passengers side a little is a little hard to take.
I am no designer so I couldn't even begin to tell anyone how to design the unit/bracket differently, but again, I feel that Dieselsite (Bob) really should make this known to folks that are considering buying the filter setup from him.
I went ahead and installed my filter yesterday, and have it all plumbed in and it looks great, I trial fit my old original short upper hose and it doesn't touch the filter, so all will be good when I get my new one today.
I didn't order the kit from Diesel Site, rather pieced together parts from several vendors. I had a concern that the filter would rub, so I mounted the filter behind the bumper. If you take a look in my gallery, I have pics of the filter. I found two bolts that are used for part of the tow hook that were long enough that I could attach a mounting plate to. It doesn't clutter the engine compartment, is out of the way, fairly easy to get to, and is mounted low so there is little worry of air bubbles.
I mounted mine under the cab on the drivers side - same thing I didn't like how tight the install was up under the hood. It Looked to me like it would be tough to change the filter & it would make a mess when you changed it.
Not Trying to hy-jack the thread - but has/or is anyone running the filters from Penray/Napa that are pre-charged?
The Napa 42088 is for a 8-10 gal system. Right now I'm running just a filter but to get out of the SCA adding business I'm considering going w/ the need release filters to cut down on the testing I do. Only thing I'm worried about is SCA dropout caused by overcHarging.
