347 Capabilites

I am wondering what the capabilites of a 347 stroker are. Can this stroker take high amounts of RPM's?? Is this possible to create a fair amout of torque from these engines?? What about horsepower?? The building of one of these looks fairly simple from the kits and then the GT 40 heads that are readily available. Can somebody give me some insight on this stroker combo??

thanks

my uncle is building a 347 right now for an old fox body mustang hes got, which he intends to be used mainly for drag racing. hes got edelbrock victor Jr aluminum heads and high rise single plain victor jr intake, 750 holley and a coast high performance stroker crank (of course)... he says it will go for repeated visits to high RPMs, and prepared for this with a windage tray and main stud girdle (always a good idea) and expects over 500 hp and as much torque. one word of advice, you will end up with a ton of extra parts if you don't choose your combo wisely. you can't run as big a cam due to piston/valve clearance, and you obviously can't use 302 pistons, the rods are too long. also, he had to notch the crank becuase he was worried about clearance with the girdle, it was too close for comfort
