fuel problem 93 f-150 300-6 Ive had a problem with gas pushing out of the front filler tube I stopped at the ford dealer to see if there had been a recall on this problem a while back i guess but not valid any more any way he gave me a schematic and it showed a check valve is what he said it was on the rail between the two tanks but I looked and there is nothing on my truck that even comes close to what it showed is the fuel pump sender assembly in the front tank that must be the problem why gas is pushing out the front tank any help would be appreciated.
The tank that has the fuel coming out of the filler pipe has a bad FDM (fuel delivery module) in it. It could be the check or the valve but to my knowledge, these parts are not individually serviceable as they are part of an assembly. Ford for a while had a fix that added a check to the output line from the pump along the frame rail but I can't find that part anywhere. The cure is to drain the tank and replace the pump, AKA the FDM.
The problem for your 93 is a item called a shuttle valve which is a part of the "fuel module" inside your tank. Pump, pickup & sending unit all in one. It sounds like he may be giving you info on the earlier design which has a different set of problems, but yet the same result.
On my 94 I have the same problem. I run a bottle of fuel system cleaner every now & then which "seems" to lessen the problem and I make sure never fill my front tank over half to 3/4 full. My rear tank is the one with the problem that causes the front to get the fuel returned from the injector rail (when running on the rear tank) instead of the rear as it should. Short of replacing the module, there seems to be no good fix. This is probably the most written about problem here with this vintage truck.

I am talking about this year and this particular fuel system. As I stated and you reiterated, the fix is to replace the FDM, fuel delivery module. The earlier system used three fuel pumps and a frame rail mounted selector valve, not the add on check valve that was a part of the Ford fix that I mentioned. You are confusing the two and assuming I don't know what I am talking about.
*** Note that a common cause of the FDM failing this way is a bad fuel regulator.
I was using front tank, when I started the truck it would idle would not rev up it would die when you pushed the throttle a little later i noticed the gas leaking beneath the front filler tube I took the cap off and gas gushed out don't matter which tank i use gas still pushes out just the front tank I use the front most of the time gauge isn't working on back tank.
ok if the gas is coming from the front tank thats the tank I want to drop I'm sorry guys I guess I'm just a little confused. thank you so much for your replys
Yes it is. I went back and searched bunch of threads & the general consensus is rep the module of the tank overflowing. It is confusing. Although if you can, & since you're having probs with the sending unit of the rear, you might want to do both at the same time. But it will be pricey.
