Any problems using

a 180 degree T-stat in a '91 F-150 5.8L? I put this in during a timing chain replacement, any problems with computer not thinking its up to temp or with longevity (well, engine has 135k miles, but I would like to get anothr 50k+ out of it). Engine seems to run excellent.

Any problems using

I remember reading an article on it somewhere. Sad part is I don't recall what it said. I think it did say you could put a 180 degree stat in without any problems. Now the 160 degree stat on the other hand will mess with the computer. Can anyone back me up on this?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Jan-02 AT 11:57 PM (EST)]Technically, it's best to run the 195 to help burn off condensate in the engine block, which will form sludge in the oil if it stays in there. I don't know if 15 degrees would make that much difference, but the higher one is what it was designed for.
