just serviced both the front and rear dif on my o2 f350. does either one, the front or rear need friction additive. in the rear i am going to run lucas synthetic 75w-140 and it says no additives need on the bottle. in the front i will be running 75w-90 amalie synthetic. whats the verdict on friction modifier additive?
The spec calls for 8 oz., but it's best to add 4 oz if needed and bump it up as needed to get rid of the chatter. The LS works better without too much modifier in there.
I had mine changed with Mobile 1 Synthetic which contains the friction modifier, per their label. Well, my rear chattered. Added 4oz and it cured 85%. Added another 4oz bottle and the rear seems OK. Every now and then I perceive chatter. Limited slip seems to work fine too.
