I had a little race with a guy from work,he has a 2006 F-150 4x4 scab xlt,tow package, basically the same as my 05 Fx4,we went from about 30 mph,I started at his back bumper and shot right by him and kept on going,I thought we would be about even,is there a power differance with the Fx4 or does mine just work good,or maybe his is a dog.
Dunno'... But...I used to let people think they were "special' (especially if they had a chick with them in the passenger seat) when I had my 03 SVT Mustang that had been reworked completely. (Had a POS Sport-Trac at the same time also)
After they'd slow down to normal speeds on the 210 freeway in Cali, I'd get alongside, give them a "thumbs-up" while doing around 70(mph), drop it to 3rd gear, give it a little gas, drop the clutch, and SMOKE my tires. I had 488rwhp. Those damn cars never tried to pass me again as long as I was on the freeway for some stupid reason. It was mostly those chitty Trans-Am's, and Camaro's that tried to bug me.
Trust me, I'm not saying your truck is slow, or he's baiting you...But compared to some serious hp, ummm...Our trucks ain't *****.
If he had crap coming out his pipe, he either runs junk gas or doesn't run his truck right. Engines are made to run and rev freely, and our trucks DO run better when you let them puppies breathe!
nope 5.4,the truck is basically the same as my fx4 without the fx4 options eg.. skid plates, floor shift but the identical drivetrain.
In that case his truck should have been lighter and he should have at least been able to keep up. Either he didn't have it on the floor or maybe he was running some weak gas. You did mention some smoke out of his pipe?
I've also noticed that sometimes when I floor my rig she doesn't always downshift appropriately. Maybe his didn't downshift or took it's time doing so. Bottom line it could be any number of issues, problems or user error.
